Day Two - We have made Progress!!

Remember back to the first blog I posted on the day we departed Grand Forks, about having more than one plan? Yes, that was us again today. We spent the night in Pasco with Katrina's parents and woke up at 4 am. We rushed out to the airport as we were briefed the night before from Fred Remer, the earlier start the better. We pulled the plane out of the hanger and preflighted. Our plan was to take off IFR, and go at 7000 to Mountain Home,ID. We climbed up contacted Seattle Center and found out that they were going to move us to 12,000 feet. We turned back around to the airport and landed.

We got out of the plane, went back in an took another look at the route. We then talked to Texas State Technical College and decided to go to the same places and stick together for a while. We went to Dalles Airport and landed. We looked at the weather and then departed to Redmond,OR. Honestly, I never thought I would be in Oregon for the night. We were able to see Mt. Adams and Mt. Hood along the way! We got the courtesy car and picked up the Texas State girls. We went to Burger King for lunch and then headed back to the FBO's. We took another look at the weather and decided to semi-go. What I mean by this is that we went up in the traffic pattern and took a better look at the route and made a decision to land back in Redmond. The biggest problem I had with this route was there was weather on either ends of the route and no good alternate. After a little convincing, we made a decision to spend the night in Redmond.

The Texas State girls decided to do the same thing and we are staying the night at the same hotel! Well as I am currently a prune from writing this in the hot tub, I better get out so I can head to bed for an early start tomorrow!! Wish us luck and let's all pray for good weather tomorrow!!

**** GOOD NEWS BEFORE I POST THIS BLOG!!! WE HAVE JUST GOTTEN NOTIFIED THAT THE RACE TERMINUS WILL BE EXTENDED UNTIL 8:37 PM ON FRIDAY JUNE 21ST. WE STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO MAKE IT TO THE FINISH LINE! :) ******
