Air Race 2014 Adventures Day 4 - Concord California
Today WE FINALLY GOT TO SLEEP IN a little!!! We started our day with a good night sleep and headed over to check-in down in our hotel lobby. As we stood in line for pilot check-in, we ran into a couple of racers from Minnesota and Wisconsin! It was nice to make friends with fellow flyers from our neighboring states! When we finally got to the front of the line, we met our motherbird that mentored us last year for the Air Race and chatted a little as she asked to see our pilot certificates, logbooks, and endorsements with all of our completed forms and current sectionals and documents. Then we headed over to aircraft check-in where we ran into a few minor issues with our maintenance records because our aircraft (N608ND) is so new to our fleet. But we called UND's maintenance and got it all straightened out! After stressing a little about our check-ins we met several teams while waiting a few hours on the ramp to get our aircraft inspected. It took so long that by the time we finished aircraft inspection, Amy came around with the rental car and we headed over the Bay Bridge to San Francisco! There, we walked down Pier 39 and ate some good sea food for lunch. Then we strolled around Fisherman's Wharf where we met up with Carly's Aunties and Uncle where they brought her a Hawaii specialty called poke. After talking story with them for a bit we walked down to Ghirardellis and got some hot chocolate and coffee to warm us up as we strolled down a rock wall and watched the sunset over the Golden Gate Bridge.
