The Results are in....

There were so many amazing aviators out there this year. Congrats to Embry-Riddle's Emmy Dillon and Abbie Pismire for getting first, and Lydia Kost, Kayleigh Bordner, and MiJin Kim of Indiana State for getting second. We can't wait to race with you again!!
Thank you to everyone who supported us. Thank you to the people who donated and made this all possible. Thank you especially to our AMAZING sponsor Rockwell Collins.

Thank you!

We are so happy to have been part of a team that extends much farther than our cockpit during this year's race. To our ground coordinator Jenna Annable, our coach Erin Schoenrock and our faculty advisor Beth Bjerke (thank you for the beautiful flowers), our awesome weather team, our sponsor Rockwell Collins, and our family and friends--thank you, thank you, thank you. Your support has been immeasurable.
We're off to the awards banquet and are anxiously awaiting the results!

Update 6/26

Gooooood Morning!

We've had an early morning. We were asked to redo our handicap flight at 0600, along with many other teams. So up and out to the airport we went! Awards ceremony tonight! Tune back in around 7:00 PM Eastern - we will be keeping you updated during the event.

The aircraft had maintenance between the original handicap flight and the start of the race. As the maintenance conducted may have affected the speed of the aircraft, per rules, the handicap flight must be done again. So we did that this morning and now we can be accurately scored for the race.

Update 6/24

We made it to Daytona!! The last few days have been crazy. This has been an amazing experience and we wouldn't trade it for the world. The results of the race come out Sunday, meanwhile we'll be on the beach!
We want to thank several people from UND who volunteered their time to the Air Race this year! These incredible people would wake up at the crack of dawn with us to review the weather and give us updates throughout the day. They are an amazing group with incredible skill and we were lucky that they helped us out.

We are so thankful for all the encouragement everyone from that company gives. Joel, a UND alum who works for Rockwell Collins, is on our forecasting team. Update 6/21- Evening

After a long day of flying the girls ended up staying in Midland, TX for the night. They made it safely and decided not to press on to Waco just to be sure they maintain Day VFR per the race rules.

Update 6/21 Midday

Okay Everyone! Here we go!

It's been an exciting last 24 hours. At around 7:00 PM, a micro-burst hit the Prescott airport. A representative from each team was called out to inspect the aircraft. Luckily, we only needed to fix our tail tie down hook. It's been repaired, paperwork complete, and we are ready to race!
This morning we had our final safety briefing, checked the route one last time, and packed up the airplane.
A little before 2pm we reached stop one, cleaned the airplane, took a break and off we go again!

Race Day!

The countdown is at zero and race day is here!! Our Frozen Force is scheduled to depart in half an hour.

The last 2 days have been long, full days. Sioux 78 (N678ND) got cleared to race and we've been in briefings ever since. We've met so many awesome fellow female aviators and can't wait to share the sky. We are so proud and thankful to be a part of this amazing aviation tradition.
